A Promise Fulfilled

We are pleased to share an exciting milestone in our journey. Drew’s Home of Clarkston has officially purchased Clarkston Corners which houses our remodeled, fully accessible apartments.

This purchase carries special meaning. When the property was first acquired, the Moscovic and White families, through their LLC, made a generous commitment - to hold and manage the building until Drew’s Home of Clarkston was financially able to assume single ownership. Their vision and commitment gave us the time we needed to grow and to finance the remodeling of six apartments within the building so that theapartments met the needs of Drew’s Home of Clarkston residents.

Today, thanks to the continued support of our donors and community, we are fulfilling that promise. As a result of securing ownership of the building, Drew’s Home of Clarkston ensures that our residents - adults with disabilities who deserve dignity, safety, and independence - will always have a place to call home.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Moscovic and White families for their partnership and to each donor and volunteer whose generosity and time has made this possible Together we are not just purchasing a building. We are creating individual living spaces that ensure that adults with handicaps can live in safe, accessible, and comfortable living conditions that enhance their lives. Together, we are securing a future for them of stability, belonging, and opportunity.

Drew’s Home can collection has become much more than a recycling effort — it is a powerful expression of community support and care in action. Thanks to the generous donation and redemption of more than 30,000 cans, Drew’s Home has been able to fulfill its mission of providing daily tasks, entertainment, and educational experiences for our residents as they interact with individuals in our community.

The proceeds from this ongoing effort directly support activities that bring joy, connection, and growth to those we serve. Residents have enjoyed special dinners featuring professional entertainers, creating evenings filled with laughter, music, and memorable moments. Recreational activities such as bowling outings, softball participation, and trips to a movie theater have also been made possible through the

Perhaps most heartwarming of all is the annual Christmas celebration. Complete with a festive dinner, a special visit from Santa, and thoughtful gifts for each resident, the celebration is a direct result of the thousands of cans donated by friends, families, and supporters. What might seem like small contributions individually have collectively created extraordinary experiences.

Every can donated represents more than spare change — it represents opportunity, dignity, and joy for the residents of Drew’s Home. Through this simple but impactful initiative, our community continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of those we proudly serve.

On a very overcast August Saturday that threatened rain at any time, over 100 golfers participated in our fifth annual golf outing in support of Drew’s Home of Clarkston. Fortunately, the rain held off until the last foursome finished. Besides enjoying 18 holes of golf, the golfers were treated to a box lunch and an excellent buffet dinner prepared by a very skillful Boulder Pointe staff. Thirty-five more supporters who contributed to Drew’s Home also enjoyed the dinner and evening festivities.

Paul Maxwell was honored for his many contributions to the birth of and vision for Drew’s Home. Paul was one of the original founders, and it was he who suggested the name Drew’s Home of Clarkston. Ever since, he has been a key to our development and growth.

As a result of a 50/50 Raffle, the entry fees, Vegas holes entries, donations, and sales of Drew’s Home Yeti cups, the day’s activities raised over $40,000. That contribution ensured that we can further our efforts to provide safe, accessible, and comfortable living conditions for adults with disabilities.

We are very thankful that so many, under the leadership of Mike and Rose, teamed up to once again make our golf outing the best. However, most of all, we are thankful for the many golfers and donors whose efforts have made it the best. Please join us again on the golf course next year.

This event under the direction of Mike Hoeksema was held on August 15, 2021, at Boulder Pointe Golf Course. This year’s outing was dedicated to Flo Pilarcik. Flo was very instrumental in the very early development of Drew’s Home of Clarkston. Over 190 golfers played the course, and another 52 joined them for an excellent dinner prepared by the Boulder Pointe staff. As a result of the donations made by many generous participants, the golfer registrations, the raffle, and the 50/50, the outing raised approximately $50,000. As a result of previous fundraisers, we have been able to completely remodel apartments 1, 2, and 9. This construction has enabled us to make great progress in support of our mission to provide safe, accessible, and comfortable living conditions to enhance the lives of adults with disabilities. With these new dollars, we will be able to continue our mission. The huge success of this outing was a direct result of the many contributions of time and dollars offered by the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers. We thank you for your support, and we look forward to your participation in next year’s event. We would also like to thank all of the area Knights of Columbus councils that have continued to support our many different fundraising events throughout the years.

Fortunately, this problem was solved when Coach Pruchnicki from Everest Academy volunteered members of his football team to manage the endless mountain of returnables. This activity served as fulfillment for their community service hours required for graduation.

As part of the day’s activities, Pat entertained residents with songs that inspired them to participate. It was the day’s objective for residents to learn new ways to communicate and how they might express themselves through music.
